BOYS & GIRLS CLUB OF LINCOLN/LANCASTER
The Boys & Girls Club of Lincoln / Lancaster County was formed in
2007. The club offers life-enhancing programs and character
development experiences each day after school and all summer long.
The club's facility gives club members a safe and positive place to
learn and grow by building ongoing relationships with caring, adult
professionals and learning to make the choices necessary to become
productive and responsible members of the community. More...
A recent survey of Club Alumni by the Harris Group indicated that 90% of club
members nationwide graduated from high school, compared to the
national dropout rate of over 33%.
Rotary Auction Proceeds: The Boys & Girls Club of Lincoln / Lancaster County will use a portion of
Rotary Auction proceeds to fund summer field trip expenses for youth. A critical element of the summer
enrichment program, these field trips help staff build meaningful relationships with children and offer
them much-needed role models and mentors. Members that participate in these summer programs are
more likely to participate in other life-enhancing programs and character development experiences
offered by the Boys & Girls Club.

Since 2000, the agency has tripled the number of

than 20 community partners provide transportation and childcare for mothers, children, and the elderly
to attend classes at many of its sites.
Rotary Auction Proceeds: The Lincoln Literacy Council will use a portion of Rotary Auction proceeds
to fund a new program called Family Literacy Activities for Refugee and Immigrant Children (FLARIC)
in schools, churches, and community Centers. This program provides educational activities to

Rotary Polio Eradication Project
Since 1986, Rotary International (RI) has been a founding partner in PolioPlus, a world-wide effort to
permanently eradicate polio. As a result of the program, new cases of polio world-wide have been
reduced drastically -- from 350,000 in 1986 to 1278 cases in 2007. It is clear, however, that the last 1%
of new cases may be harder to conquer than the first 99% and will only happen with the commitment of
people in polio-free, industrialized countries like the US. With global support to fund the cost of
vaccines and an aggressive effective push in the four remaining endemic countries, it is believed that
the goal of total eradication can accomplished. Until this happens, the spread of polio will continue to
be just a plane ride away. More...
In 2007, Rotary International was awarded a $100 million challenge grant from
the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and the Google corporation provided an
additional matching grant of $3.5 million. RI has launched a nation-wide, three-
year fund-raising campaign to raise the matching $103.5 million. District 5650,
of which Club #14 is a member, is committed to raising $135,000 over the next
three years toward the match.
Rotary Auction Proceeds: A portion of the Rotary Auction proceeds will be
part of Club #14's commitment to the PolioPlus matching fund campaign.
